Historical workshops for junior high school and secondary school learners.

On 14th October 2011there took place an opening ceremony of next edition of the programme “Through the Present Day to History” – Bronisław Geremek’s historical workshops. This year we invited 2nd and 3rd grade learners of junior public high schools as well as 1st grade learners of  public secondary schools from the region of the Mazovian province.

Workshops are run in three groups:

Workshops are run in a seminar fashion which means that the participants are obliged to prepare themselves on a specific topic – most often they shall be asked to read several pages of a text concerning issues discussed in a particular week. First part of the activities is dedicated to participants’ discussion on the text they read, with the contribution of a teacher as a moderator of the discussion. Second part of the activities is dedicated to the investigation of the sources of current situation in the history of particular regions of the world. Learners should make use of their own general knowledge complementing one another’s information.

Workshops take place every second Saturday (detailed schedule can be found by clicking on a link for a particular age group). Witnesses of history and active participants of the last half-century are invited for 1-2 meetings during the round. From 21st to 23rd October 2011 an integration trip to Lublin  for all three groups took place.

concurrently, throughout the whole year learners benefit from scholarship paid by the Foundation which enables them to develop their interests in history.
