Bronisław Geremek (1932-2008)

Professor Bronisław Geremek (1932-2008) was one of the leading figures of liberation movements in Central-Eastern Europe, which in turn led to the collapse of communism. He was the architect of the first free elections in 1989, as well as prior agreements and negotiations at the Round Table. In democratically governed Poland, prof. Geremek played a key role in its accession to the European Union and NATO. His legacy is not limited to politics - he was also an outstanding historian with an abundant academic output.
