The third lecture of the "Man of exclusion" series

In recent years a radical shift in emphasis from the issues of poverty into general phenomenon of social exclusion has occurred in the European Union, both in the intellectual dimension and political and practical ones - said prof. Janusz Czapiński, opening his lecture at the Professor Bronislaw Geremek’s Centre Foundation.

On March 21st, 2012, in the headquarters of the Foundation, a lecture by prof. Janusz Czapiński was held. It was already the third meeting in the "Man of exclusion" series.
Speaker - outstanding Polish social psychologist, professionally connected with the Chair of Social Psychology at the Department of Psychology of Warsaw University - presented a partial analysis of the results of panel studies Social Diagnosis, which he has managed for a number of years.

This open and public project - all the results, including the database are available free of charge - covers certain groups of social indicators, which include, among others: demographic and social structure of households, household living conditions associated with their financial condition, access the labour market, medical services, culture and recreation, education and modern communication technology, quality and style of life and the individual characteristics of citizens.

Based on expert analysis, researchers gain insight both into the current picture of Polish society, as well as in the process of transformation in the period of more than ten years.
From this point of view "Social exclusion” phenomena indicators prove to be particularly important and interesting.

The results of Social Diagnosis make aware of a wide range of social exclusion and the threat of exclusion within the above-mentioned groups. Nowadays in Poland the largest scope of the exclusion is for financial reasons, but the highest level of risk can be observed in the group of structural and physical exclusion.
